Annual Buckthorn Bust in Como Park
Saturday, October 24, 9am to 11:30am
Como Woodland Outdoor Classroom site
Meet:
Former Como Park Pool Parking Lot
just west of Lexington Parkway
on the south side of Horton Avenue.
Details:
Medium duty volunteer work will be hauling out buckthorn branches that will be cut by Youth Conservation Corps.
For volunteers requiring a light-duty project, we can place you on burdock seed head removal (another exotic invasive) or train you to pull buckthorn seedlings.
Light refreshments will be provided.
Bring:
Your student or church group, friends and family, or just bring yourself. Some cloth gloves will be provided, but bring your own leather gloves if you have them (especially those of you who will be on burdock seed removal). Long pants are recommended.
Sponsored by:
St. Paul Park & Recreation EcoStewards,
District 10 Environment Committee,
and the Como Woodland Advisory Committee.
For further information and pre-registration:
email Meghan at environment@ci.stpaul.mn.us
or call 651-632-2459.
(on-site registration will also be available for last minute volunteers, but we would prefer that you pre-register because much of the buckthorn will be cut ahead of time.)
